Good footage has many qualities that need careful consideration before you go to film. There are many aspects that can go wrong really easily, and many aspects that can drastically change the tone and look of your film. Carefully consider what mood you are going for before you being filming.
We prefer that you record on a professional video camera, but recording on your phone is fine as well, as long as the video quality is 720p or higher.
IF YOU RECORD ON YOUR PHONE, MAKE SURE TO FILM HORIZONTALLY.
VERTICALLY FILMED VIDEOS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Cropping should be consistent throughout video. Fit your footage to the screen.
Make sure your film isn’t too washed out, or too dark.
Please try to limit the amount of shaking on your video.
Ensure that the footage is not noisy (bad film grain).
Keep what you want in focus, in focus.
Depth of field (the number of objects in focus) makes a film look more cinematic.
– Auto focus is not always the best option. Sometimes it can cause an object to move out of focus before coming back in, thus disrupting the film.
